Family Class - 4 weeks

Class will meet 4 times, once per week.

This is the essential Music Together® class, one that a child can attend from birth through age five—and through all nine song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers, grouping children of a variety of ages in one class. This approach fosters natural, family-style learning where younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together.

Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments. We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience, and any caregiver—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the child(ren) to class.

Each semester includes:

  • Weekly 45-minute classes teaching a new song collection every fall, winter and spring.
  • New CDs each semester with the songs, rhythm chants, "play-alongs," tonal and rhythm patterns used in class.
  • Beautifully illustrated songbook with family activities to enjoy at home.
  • Parent education resources and online resources.
Demo Class

Families who are new to Music Together are invited to attend one free demonstration class.

Flex Class 4 Pack

While we prefer that you attend the same class each week, we understand that's not possible for every family due to traveling or special circumstances. For families needing more scheduling flexibility, our Flex Class Packs are just for you!

All Flex Packs include a family set of take-home materials so you can enjoy our class songs at home and on the go.

Once your Flex Pack is purchased, you must choose your classes in advance using our Makeup Scheduler. Please note that specific days and times are not guaranteed to have availability, and seat availability can change daily. If you can't attend one of your scheduled classes, please cancel it through the Scheduler and choose another open seat.

Unused classes do not carry over to the next semester and refunds are not given for unused classes.

For the best experience, classes must have at least 6 families registered in order to run. If you sign up for a class that does not meet its minimum, you will be notified and offered the chance to attend a different class. If you want a specific day/time, we strongly recommend that you sign up for a regular session.

Rhythm Kids Level 1

Rhythm Kids Level 1 is for children 4 and 5 years old. Each week we drum, sing, dance, play rhythm instruments, and begin to play music-based games. Rhythm Kids Level 1 guides children toward developmentally appropriate music and movement activities, where they can begin to take charge, lead others, and be musically creative, as they:

  • make up their own drumming patterns

  • invent new ways to play rhythm instruments (shakers, sticks, etc.)

  • create movement ideas for songs

  • even take a drum solo!

Rhythm Kids Level 1 carries on the Music Together® vision to help children complete the pathway of early childhood music development from birth through age eight. Classes and include:

  • 10 weekly, 45-minute classes

  • Songbook and CD (2 copies) each semester

  • Access to online drum-play videos and other material

Children will:

  • Explore the world of rhythm through movement, instrument play, and song

  • Develop basic rhythm skills, like keeping beat, improvising, ensemble play, and soloing

  • Learn to create, cooperate, and express themselves musically

Drums will be provided for the class each week, but if you’d like your child to have a drum to play with at home (and then continue to use in Level 2 classes!), please ask your teacher about the special discounts on djembe drums that are available to Music Together families.

Rhythm Kids Level 1 is a drop-off optional class. Parents are welcome to stay and participate or children may attend on their own, if they're ready.

Tuition for all Music Together classes includes family materials to use at home (e.g., recordings of our award-winning music, illustrated songbook, parent education resources).

Rhythm Kids Level 2

In Rhythm Kids® Level 2 classes, students ages 5 1/2 to 7 years old explore rhythm by playing with music from around the world. Music
Together–trained teachers lead dynamic classroom activities designed especially for early elementary students, and the discovery continues at home with the interactive Rhythm Kids videos, easily viewable on our app. As they drum, sing, and move to new rhythms, children naturally build musicality that helps them prepare for formal music lessons. Opportunities to solo, work in ensembles, and improvise support social and listening skills, self-expression, and self-confidence.
